JobsLand

 Completed Project

Launched in 2022, JobsLand is an educational project designed to help increase access to quality education for high school students in disadvantaged areas, where the pandemic has exacerbated school dropout rates and created conditions that are unfavorable to learning. The project is carried out with the support of Kaufland Romania..

PROJECT OBJECTIVE

The project is designed to motivate young people from disadvantaged communities not to drop out of school early by providing them with access to quality education and career guidance.

The project’s activities, which are based on applied learning and project-based learning, facilitate and encourage the business community’s involvement in the professional training of young people, in line with the skills and competencies needed for the transition to the labor market.

EDUCATIONAL CONTENT

  • Job shadowing activities, through which students have the opportunity to observe certain professions by “shadowing” employees, learn about specific responsibilities and tasks, and gain insight into the organizational culture of a particular company;
  • Q&A sessions, debates, and presentations on various topics aimed at providing career guidance, conducted with the support and involvement of Kaufland volunteer counselors and coordinating teachers;
  • Digital educational activities, designed to present a range of current job opportunities in the food, agriculture, and retail sectors and to help students explore career opportunities in these industries;
  • Training sessions for teachers on teaching in a hybrid classroom setting and on adapting more easily to new educational requirements

Reducing school dropout rates and preparing young people for the transition from school to work are achieved by offering and facilitating access to a “turnkey” educational package, tailored to hybrid learning and the educational needs of students. The sustainability component, which involves training and supporting teachers working in disadvantaged areas – and beyond – with learning tools that attract students to school and keep them engaged in the educational process for as long as possible, along with the involvement of volunteer consultants from Kaufland Romania, who help students define their own interests and skills, identify future educational and career opportunities, and gain a better understanding of the role and importance of education, add value to this educational initiative.
