Climagen

 Ongoing Project

ClimaGen: Climate-resilient reGeneration with vulnerable neighbourhoods is a European initiative dedicated to urban regeneration through green solutions, with the goal of increasing the resilience of cities and contributing to the achievement of climate neutrality.

The project is funded through the Horizon Europe program and is part of a joint call for proposals among European Union missions, titled “100 Smart and Climate-Neutral Cities by 2030” and “Adapting to Climate Change.”

The project brings together a broad consortium of 33 partners and involves 9 cities in Romania, Italy, Serbia, Greece, Spain, the Netherlands, Estonia, Poland, and Norway – which will implement innovative solutions for urban greening and sustainable environmental transformation. The activities aim to improve the quality of urban life, reduce the impact of climate change, and develop replicable models for other European cities.

Project objective

The ClimaGen project aims to take an integrated and collaborative approach to support cities’ transition toward sustainability and climate resilience; in our case, this refers to the city of Cluj-Napoca.

One of the objectives is to ensure the project’s effective management and to integrate it into the national, European, and global dialogue on the transition toward resilience and climate neutrality. The project also aims to increase the area of newly created and/or restored public green spaces by 25% in the nine participating cities. These interventions will directly contribute to improving the quality of the urban environment and citizens’ lives, while supporting the European Union’s climate goals.
